EL PRESENTE CONTINUO: THE PRESENT CONTINUOUS.

El presente continuo se forma con el presente del verbo -to be + la forma en -ing (gerundio) del verbo correspondiente.

AFIRMATIVA:

I am / I'm studying (Estoy estudiando)

You are /You're eating (Estás comiendo)

He is / He´s writing (El está escribiendo)

She is / She's drinking (Ella está bebiendo)

It is/ It's running (Está corriendo)

We are / We're disturbing (Nosotros estamos molestando)

You are / You're sleeping (Vosotros estáis durmiendo)

They are / They're working (Ellos están trabajando)

NEGATIVA:

I am not /I'm not studying (No estoy estudiando)

You are not / aren't eating (No estás comiendo)

He is not/ isn´t writing (El no está escribiendo)

She is not/ isn´t drinking (Ella no está bebiendo)

It is not/ isn´t running (No está corriendo)

We are not/ aren't disturbing ( No estamos molestando)

You are not/ aren´t sleeping (No estáis durmiendo)

They are not/ aren't working (No están trabajando)

INTERROGATIVA:

Am I studying? Yes, I am/ No, I´m not

(¿Estoy estudiando? Sí / No)

Are you eating? Yes, you are/ No, you aren´t

(¿Estás comiendo?Sí / No)

Is he writing? Yes, he is / No, he isn't

(¿Está él escribiendo? Sí / No)

Is she drinking? Yes, she is/ No, she isn't

(¿Está ella bebiendo? Sí/ No)

Is it running? Yes, it is/ No, it isn't

(¿Está corriendo? Sí /No)

Are we disturbing? Yes, we are/ No, we aren´t

(¿Estamos molestando? Sí/ No)

Are you sleeping? Yes, you are/ No, you aren´t

(¿Estáis vosotros durmiendo? Sí/ No)

Are they working? Yes, they are/ No, they aren´t

(¿Están ellos trabajando? Sí/ No)

CAMBIOS EN LA ORTOGRAFÍA.

*En los verbos terminados en -e, se suprime la -e y se añade -ing.

Ejplo: (to take): He is taking a book (El está cogiendo un libro)

(to write): We are writing a story (Estamos escribiendo una historia)

*En los verbos terminados en sílaba tónica formada por una vocal seguida de una consonante (excepto x, w,y) se dobla la última consonante y se añade -ing.

Ejplo: (to sit): She is sitting on the floor (Ella está sentada en el suelo)

(to forget): I am forgetting something (Estoy olvidando algo)

WOULD LIKE: ME GUSTARÍA. Afirmativa: I would like to be an astronaut (Me gustaría ser astronauta) Negativa: I would not (wouldn´t) like to be an astronaut (No me gustaría ser astronauta) Interrogativa: Would you like to be an astronaut? Yes, I would/ No, I wouldn´t.(¿Te gustaría ser astronauta?Sí/No) What would you like to be? I would like to be an astronaut. (¿Qué te gustaría ser?Me gustaría ser astronauta). *Recuerda que cuando would like va seguido de un verbo, el verbo debe ir precedido de "to". Esto no ocurre si would like va seguido de un sustantivo (Me gustaría una taza de café). En las interrogativas de Sí/No (Yes/No questions) se interpreta como una invitación.
